Birjand Persian rug

Birjand Persian rug is one of the most beautiful carpet of Iran.

Some features of Birjand Persian rugs are;

Design and role and color ; The designs and motifs of carpets in these areas are designed by local designers in their own style. Herati (Fish), Khorasani, Oriental rugs design (Mood) motifs, and the famous Saadi Rab’i shine are among the most popular motifs in the region. Note that some carpet masters choose the carpet color subjectively and apply it on a black pen design. The colors used in these carpets are bright and often come in cream, red, grey, pea, and navy colors.

Texture: Birjand Persian rugs are woven with very fine wool. The carpets pile are made of wool and weft and warp is made of cotton yarn. The number of knots is between 30 and 40 and up to 45. Carpet knot is asymmetrical and its knot is Persian. These rugs are double-layered and slightly loose.

Raw Materials: Part of the wool consumed in these carpets comes from local sheep and other parts of the Mashhad market. Mashhadi looms is used in the weaving of these rugs.

Important Carpet Weaving Centers: Birjand’s important carpet weaving centers after Mood and Shine are Nogand, Asiaban, Baghestan and Dastgerd. Carpet weaving is also practiced professionally in the four parts of Birjand, namely Central, Daryan, Sarbisheh, and Khusuf.

Size: In Birjand, small carpets of different sizes are woven. Traditionally, large carpets were woven with shrub design in the Mood area.
