Sabzevar city in Khorasan province has a rich history in carpet design and has been an important source of Iranian carpets since at least 1555 AD. Carpets are woven in about 200 villages in the region and are collected and sold in the market.

Sabzevar carpets are usually made of cotton and wool and decorated with curved pattern and floral motifs.

The carpets are in different dimensions and large sizes, and most of them have green floral designs. Red and blue flowers in a branch in the frame of the carpet are the main characteristic of the Sabzevar carpet design.
